Gauging Contributions - Wins Above Average in the IPL

In a new article for ESPNcricinfo, I try to calculate a player's contextual contributions by a Runs Above Average measure, and then translate it into a Wins Above Average to calculate how many wins a given player earns his team above the average player.

This is a crystallisation of a few ideas that have been going around my head, jotted on the pages of this newsletter over the past few weeks.
